Opportunities in a Low Carbon Future

In light of the climate change and peak oil challenges, it is becoming increasingly clear that the 'business as usual' way of doing things won't deliver on our long-term objectives. This workshop will help you understand the need for a different perspective, and will work with you to start developing a low-carbon approach for you and your organisation.

What is this? This workshop provides the latest peak oil and climate change facts and projections, explores how systems thinking can help organisations to understand these issues, and looks in general terms at where the greatest organisational vulnerabilities might lie, while identifying opportunities that will arise in a low-carbon environment. It introduces the Transition Approach and begins to work with some of the visioning activities, while exploring the business case and practicalities essential to support realisation of that vision.

What are the benefits? Your organisation will begin (or continue) its work to assess the likely impacts of peak oil and climate change on its operations. You will take proactive steps to understand your current vulnerabilities and engage your employees in creating a positive vision of your organisation in the future, where your organisation will become resilient to the main risks and open to new opportunities arising. You will then have this work carried forward by an engaged, empowered and enthusiastic group. Your understanding of the Transition Approach will provide you with the tools and techniques to work together in news ways, and spread this energy and commitment throughout your organisation.

How is it delivered? Two TTandC practitioners will work with you to tailor the workshop to align with your progress to date with these issues. The workshop is delivered over 1-2 days (ideally 2 to give sufficient time to explore and experience the process).

Who would benefit? This workshop is suitable for any employees - it is inclusive and engaging for all levels of an organisation. It may be tailored to suit a particular team or division, or run with a cross-section of people. It could include those already engaged with sustainability/resilience building projects, or those brand new to these topics. It is generally most helpful to offer this to people who will then have the time and the remit to act on the workshop outcomes.

How much does this cost? Our pricing structure is based on size (number of employees) and type (private, public, voluntary) of organisation. Please contact us to discuss your needs further.
